Shu Qi in Berlin
I think, guys like me who have discovered Our Beloved Vivian through her pictures in the Internet around 10 Years ago, will certainly have come across Shu Qi as well. Vivian played together with Hsu Qi in the movie L-O-V-E ... love and it's said that they became good friends at that ime.
These days you can see Shu Qi in the German TV, in many newspapers and weekly magazines and in the Internet.
The 58th Berlin Film Festival (Berlinale) has begun past Thursday and Shu Qi has been been chosen as a member of the jury of this event. For the registered members of HbF I have collected a few photos from the Berlinale and a short video clip of Shu Qi's arrival at Berlin Tegel Airport.

Thank you very much, dear hawkbit, for these lovely pictures of this great actress. I must say that I do associate in my mind Shu Qi and Vivian Hsu. They have quite a number of things in commun, in their past and in their present situation. Vivian has outweighted Shu Qi in singing, but Shu Qi has more success in acting. Both are beautiful single ladies, Hsu Chi is even more secretive than Vivian about her dreams. I have bought several movies with Shu Qi. Gorgeous with Jacky Chan is the counterpart of Accidental Spy, but Shu Qi has at least a well-defined role. She is lovely in Foliage or Iron Sister, but my preference is the Romance of Red Dust, six DVDs full of sub-titled epics.
In those times where we don't get to see much from Vivian, it was good to see something of beautiful Hsu Chi. |

This scan is taken from an article in the "Berliner Zeitung" (litarally "Berlin Newspaper"), Feb 7th 2008, start of the Festival.
Roughly translated, the legend says:
_________________________________________________
Shu Qi
Born in Taiwan and 31 years old, Shu Qi is presently one of the most popular and favoured actresses in the Asian film world. She performed already in over 50 films of different genre.
She gained international attention especially with her role in the thriller "The Transporter" (2002). For the first time she appeared in the Berlinale with the film "The Island Tales" by Stanley Kwan in the year 2000.
_________________________________________________
Fortunately the "Berliner Zeitung" belongs to the more serious newspapers. I heard that reporters of other media asked her nasty questions about her early work for movies and magazines. I'm somewhat ashamed that this happened to her in my homeland.
Thank you Wil, for your kind statement about Shu Qi. Some time ago, my opinion has been ambiguous (only because of those old photos) but certainly I've been wrong. Vivian said once (in an interview, long ago) "The CAT III road to fame isn't easy to go". That's also something what Vivian Hsu and Hsu Chi have in common in their curriculum. |
